the network Setup Wizard |

Click
Start, All Programs,
Accessories, Communications, Network Setup Wizard-
At the Welcome window, click
Next -
In the
Before You Continue window, review the checklist for
creating a network, then click
Next -
Select the
statement that best describes your network, then
click Next -
Follow the on-screen prompts

a new connection |

Click
Start,
then click
Control
Panel

Double-click
Network
Connections
-
Click
the
Create a
new connection
link
-
Choose
the type of connection, enter the phone number, and
choose the availability you want for this
connection, then click
Finish

Changing the dial out settings |

From the
Network Connections window, click the connection
whose settings you want to change, click
File, then click
Properties
-
Click
the General tab
to enter a new phone number or change an existing
one
-
Click
the Alternates
button, then click the Add
button to type an alternate phone number to dial in
case the first number fails to connect
-
Click
the Options tab
to require a name and password, to change the number
of redial attempts, to change the amount of time
between redial attempts, to change the amount of
idle time before automatically disconnecting, or to
have Windows automatically redial if the line gets
disconnected

Setting up an incoming connection |

From the
Network Connections window, double-click
Create a
new connection
-
Click
the Set up an advanced connection radio
button, then Click
Next
-
Click
the radio button next to Accept incoming
connections, then click
Next
-
Click
the check box next to the connection device you want
other computers to use to connect to your computer,
then click
Next
-
Click
the radio button next to Do not allow virtual
private connections, then click
Next
-
Click
the check box next to each user you want to allow to
connect to your computer, then click
Next
-
Check
the check box next to each networking component you
want to use for incoming connections, then click
Next
-
Click
Finish
