Installing a non-Plug and Play device |

Connect the device to your computer
-
Click
Start,
then click
Control
Panel
-
Double-click
Add
Hardware
-
Click
Next
at the Welcome screen of the Add Hardware Wizard
-
Click
the radio button next to Yes, I have already
connected the hardware, then click
Next
-
The
Wizard displays a list of already installed
hardware. Click
Add a
new hardware device
at the very end of the list, then click
Next
-
Click
the radio button next to Install the hardware
that I manually select from a list (Advanced),
then click
Next
-
In the
Common hardware types list box, select the
type of hardware you're installing and click
Next
-
If you
allow Windows to detect the new device, click Next.
If you select not to have Windows detect the device,
click the check box next to Don't detect my
device; I will select it from a list, then click
Next
-
Select
the brand name and model of the device, or
click
Have
Disk
if it isn't listed
-
Click
Next,
then follow the remaining instructions for
installing the device

In the
Control panel, double-click the
System icon
-
On the
System Properties dialog box, click the
Hardware tab
-
Click
the Device Manager
button
|
Troubleshooting devices |
-
If a
device has a problem, a yellow exclamation point or
red x is next to the device name
-
Double-click the device to display its Properties
dialog box
-
If
Windows has a possible solution, click the button
below the problem description to begin that course
of action
-
If
Windows cannot determine the problem, click the
Troubleshooter
button to begin additional research on the problem
