Updating a driver |
-
In the Device
Manager, double-click the device you want to update-
Click the Drivers
tab of the Properties dialog box -
Click the
Update Driver
button -
Select the Install from a list or
specific location radio button, then click
Next -
Select the
Don't search, I will choose the driver to install
radio button, then click
Next -
Click the
Hard Disk button -
Click Browse,
then navigate to the file containing the driver
update -
Click the Open
button -
Click OK -
Click Next -
Click Finish

Rolling back a driver |
-
In the
Device Manager, double-click the device you want to
roll back -
Click
the
Drivers
tab of the Properties dialog box; click the
Roll
Back Driver
button -
Click
Yes -
Click
OK

Starting in Safe Mode |
-
If your
computer and monitor, then immediately press and
hold down the F8
key
-
The
Windows Advanced Options menu appears. use the up
and down arrow keys to highlight the
Safe Mode option,
then press Enter
-
Use
arrow keys again to highlight the operating system
you want to start, then press
Enter
-
At the
Welcome screen, click the Administrator account to
use
-
Click
the Yes button
in the dialog box
-
When
finished using Safe Mode, restart your computer
normally

Restoring your computer |
-
Click
Start,
All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System
Restore
-
Click
the
Restore
my computer to an earlier time
radio button, then click
Next
-
The
Select a restore point screen opens showing a
calendar with all the dates that have restore points
in bold
-
Click
the most recent day with a restore point before the
problems started, then click
Next
-
The
Confirm Restore Point Selection asks you to confirm
the restore point you have selected and provides
some information about the restore process; click
Next
-
A dialog
box will detail the progress of the restoration, and
the computer restarts when complete. Click
OK

Manually creating a restore point |

Click
Start, All Programs,
Accessories, System Tools, System Restore
-
Click the
Create a restore point
radio button, then click
Next
-
Type a description
for the restore point and click
Create
-
Click
Close
