Editing an embedded object
  • Open the document that contains the embedded object

  • Double-click the embedded object

  • make the desired changes to the object

  • When finished editing the object, click anywhere outside the object within the document

Dragging and dropping data between applications
  • Open the server document and the container document

  • Select the desired object

  • Holding down the Ctrl key, drag the object to the target document

Inserting a graphic in another application

  • Open the server document and select the desired object

  • From the Edit menu click Copy

  • Open the container document and select the location where you want the information to be copied

  • From the Edit menu click Paste

Dragging and dropping a document scrap

  • Select and drag the desired information from the server document onto your Desktop

  • Drag and drop the scrap from the desktop into the target document

Linking an object

  • In the server document that contains the object you want to link, select the object

  • In the Edit menu click Copy

  • In the target document where you want to paste the object, click the location where you want the object to appear

  • In the Edit menu click Paste Special

  • Click the radio button next to Paste link

  • Click OK

Editing a linked object
  • Double-click the linked object you want to edit in the compound document

  • Edit the object

  • In the File menu, click Save

  • In the File menu, click Exit
