Using the Add Printer Wizard to connect to a network printer
  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • In the left pane of the Printers and Faxes window, click the Add a Printer link

  • Click radio button next to Network Printer

  • Type the name of the printer you wish to connect to, or Browse to find it

Sharing your printer
  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • Click the icon for the printer you wish to share

  • In the File menu, click Sharing...

  • In the Sharing tab, click the Sharing this printer radio button, then type a friendly name so that others can easily identify the printer. Click OK when done

Changing the Printing Preferences

  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • Click the printer whose preferences you want to change

  • In the File menu, click Printing Preferences

  • Click the Layout or Paper/Quality tab

  • Click the appropriate button to change Orientation, Page Order, Pages Per Sheet, Paper Source, Media, Quality Settings, or Color

Changing the Printer Properties

  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • Click the printer whose properties you want to change

  • In the File menu, click Properties

  • In the Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab

  • Click the appropriate button to change Availability times, Priority, Spooling, and to print a Separator Page between print jobs

Previewing a font

  • In the Start menu, click Control Panel

  • Double-click the Fonts folder

  • Double-click the font you want to preview

Using the Character Map
  • Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map

  • From the Fonts drop-down list, select a font

  • Double-click the desired character(s)

  • Click Copy

  • Open the document you want to copy into

  • In the Edit menu, click Paste

Installing New Fonts
  • In the Start menu, click Control Panel

  • Double-click the Fonts folder

  • In the Edit menu, click Install New Font...

  • Navigate to the folder with the fonts you wish to install

  • Click the font(s) you want to add

  • Click OK

Deleting fonts
  • In the Start menu, click Control Panel

  • Double-click the Fonts folder

  • Right-click the font you want to delete

  • Click Delete

  • Click Yes at the Alert message
