Printing a file from within an application
  • In the File menu, click Print

  • Click OK

Printing a file outside an application
  • Right-click the file to print

  • In the context menu, click Print

Creating a printer shortcut

  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • In the Printers window, right-click the printer

  • In the context menu, click Create Shortcut

  • Click Yes to allow Windows to create a shortcut on the Desktop

Canceling a printing job

  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • In the Printers and Faxes window, double-click the printer you are using

  • Click the name of the file you want to cancel

  • In the Document menu, click Cancel

Using Pause Printing

  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • In the Printers and Faxes window, double-click the printer you want to pause

  • In the Printer menu, click Pause Printing

Opening the Add Printer Wizard

  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • In the left pane of the Printers and Faxes window, click the Add a Printer link

Using the Add Printer Wizard to install a local printer
  • From the Add Printer Wizard welcome window, click Next

  • Click Local Printer, then click Next

  • Click the port you want to use, then click Next

  • Select the manufacturer and model of the printer, then click Next

  • Select a name for the printer, then click Next

  • Decide if you want this printer to be your default printer, then click Next

  • Click that you don't want to share this printer, then click Next

Designating a default printer
  • In the Start menu, click Printers and Faxes

  • Right-click the printer you want to set as the default printer

  • In the context menu, click Set as Default Printer
