Formatting a floppy disk |
-
Insert the floppy
disk and click Start,
then click My Computer-
Click the floppy drive icon -
Click
File, then click
Format -
Specify
options, such as the size and name of the disk -
Click Start,
then click OK

Copying
one floppy disk to another |
-
Insert the disk you want to copy
-
In My
Computer, click the floppy disk drive icon
-
In the
File menu, click
Copy
Disk
-
Indicate
the disk you want to copy from and the disk you want
to copy to, then click
Start
-
When
prompted, remove the first disk and replace it with
the disk you're copying to
|
Converting a drive to NTFS |
-
Click
Start, All Programs,
Accessories, Command Prompt
-
Type
convert, and then
press the spacebar
-
Type the
letter of the drive you wish to convert followed by
a colon (:), and then press the spacebar
-
Type
/fs:ntfs, and then
press the Enter
key
-
Type
Y (for Yes)
-
Type
exit and then press
Enter

Using Disk Management to view drive information

Click
Start,
then click
Control Panel
-
Double-click the
Administrative Tools
icon
-
Double-click the
Computer
Management
icon
-
Click
Disk
Management
|
Creating a new partition |
-
Navigate to the Disk Management area of the Computer
Management window (Start,
Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer
Management, Disk Management) -
Right-click the unallocated space of
a basic disk you wish to partition, then click
New Partition -
In the New Partition Wizard, click
Next, click
Primary partition
or Extended Partition,
and follow the instructions on your screen

Changing the default operating system |

Click
Start,
then click
Control Panel -
Double-click
System -
Click the
Advanced
tab -
In the Startup and Recovery
area, click
Settings -
Select the desired operating
system and then click
OK -
Click
OK
