Replacing sounds with visual cues
  • Click the Sound tab on the Accessibility Options dialog box

  • Check Use SoundSentry to display a visual warning whenever a system sound plays

  • Click Settings to determine where the warning displays

  • Check Use ShowSounds to display a visual cue whenever a program plays a warning sound

Changing to a High Contrast display
  • Click the Display tab on the Accessibility Options dialog box

  • Check the Use High Contrast check box

  • Click the Settings button to display the list of available high contrast color schemes

  • Select a scheme, then click OK

Replacing the mouse with the keyboard

  • Click the Mouse tab on the Accessibility Options dialog box

  • Check the Use MouseKeys check box

  • Click the Settings button to display a dialog box for adjusting the mouse speed

  • Click Apply or OK

Using MouseKeys

  • To move the mouse pointer, press the 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, or 9 key

  • To click with the left mouse button, press the / key, then the 5 key

  • To right-click, press the minus (–) key, then the 5 key

  • To double-click, press the plus (+) key

  • To drag, press the 0 key, then move the mouse to the target location. Press the Del key

Administering Accessibility Options

  • Click the General tab on the Accessibility Options dialog box

  • To turn off the options after a certain amount of time, check the Automatic reset check box, then click a time in the drop-down list

  • To display a warning when an accessibility feature is turned on, check the Give warning message when turning a feature on check box

  • To play a sound when an accessibility feature is turned on or off, check the Make a sound when turning a feature on or off check box

  • If you're an Administrator, to apply the current accessibility options at the log on screen, check the Apply all settings to logon Desktop check box

  • If you're an Administrator, to apply the current accessibility options as the default for all new users, check the Apply all settings to defaults for new users check box
