Selecting a wallpaper
  • To select an existing wallpaper, click the wallpaper in the list

  • To select a picture from your computer, click Browse, then navigate to and select the file

  • In the Display drop-down list, click Center to center the picture on the screen, Tile to repeat the picture to fill up the screen, or Stretch to stretch the picture to fit the screen

  • Click Apply or OK

Selecting a scheme
  • Open the Appearance tab of the Display Properties dialog box

  • In the Color Scheme drop-down list, click the scheme to use

  • In the Font size and the Windows and buttons drop-down lists, click an option

  • Click Apply or OK

Setting up a screen saver

  • In the Screen Saver drop-down list, click the screen saver to use

  • Click the Settings button to view and set any settings for the screen saver

  • Click the Preview button to see a full screen preview of the screen saver

  • In the Wait field, adjust the number of minutes for the computer to be inactive before the screen saver activates

  • Click Apply

Adjusting monitor settings

  • In the Color quality drop-down list, click the number of colors

  • Under Screen resolution, slide the bar to the left or right to increase or decrease the resolution

  • Click OK

Creating an Active Desktop

  • Right-click a blank area of the Desktop

  • In the context menu, click Properties

  • Click the Desktop tab and click the Customize Desktop... button

  • Click the Web tab, then click New...

  • On the New Active Desktop Item dialog box, in the Location field, select a Web page to make your active Desktop

  • Click Yes and OK to confirm your selection

Switching to Windows Classic View

  • Click Start, then Control Panel

  • Double-click Display

  • In the Themes tab, under Theme, click Windows Classic

  • Click OK
