Hypertext Transfer protocol. The method used to
transmit data over the Web.

Hub:
A
central connecting device in a network that joins
all the computers and other devices together.

Icon:
A small
picture used to present a file, program, or action
on the screen. Users use the mouse to interact with
icons.

Indents:
Determine how far the edges of a paragraph are from
the margins.
|
Inheritance:
A
process by which when NTFS permissions are assigned
to a parent folder, all the same permissions are
applied to the subfolders and files of that parent
folder.

Installation requirements:
The
required configuration of a computer to install
software.
|
Internet:
A
network of many computers and networks spanning the
globe.
|
Intranet:
A
network with Internet-like features intended to be
used only within an organization to share
information and not by the general public.

IP
(Internet Protocol) address:
Written
as four sets of numbers separated by periods (for
example, 192.171.64.2) that identify where a
computer is located on the network.

IPCONFIG:
A
command line prompt that identifies your current
TCP/IP settings.
|
ISP:
Internet
Service Provider. A company that provides an access
point to the Internet.
|
Kerberos:
An
Internet security protocol that authenticates users.
|
Left
indent:
How far
from the left margin to position a paragraph.
|
Left
justified:
Aligns
text along the left margin, with the right edge left
ragged.
|
Link:
Text or
a graphic used to display another Web page.
|
Local
area network (LAN):
A
network that connects a group of users in the same
physical location (such as in one building) so that
they can share information and resources, like
printers and files, with each other.

Local
printer:
A
printer attached directly to your computer.
|
Mapping:
A
process that makes the folder or drive appear as an
icon in My Computer just as if the drive itself was
inside your computer.
|
Margin:
The
space around the edges of a page.
|
Maximize button:
The
second button at the right of a window's Title bar.
Used to expand a window to fit the entire screen.
