... to Get to the New Connection Wizard

You can also get to the New Connection Wizard from the Network Connections folder. In the Start menu, click Control Panel, then double-click Network Connections. Click the Create a new connection link on the left pane of the window under Network tasks. The New Connection Wizard opens.

 

... on Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information about you that Web sites save to your computer. It allows them to do things like greet you by name the next time you visit or suggest products based on previous purchases.

If you find this intrusive or a cause for concern, them in the Internet Options dialog box, under the Privacy tab, change the settings for cookies. You can disable them entirely or ask Internet Explorer to prompt you by displaying a message whenever someone tries to save a cookie on your machine.

... to Install Non-Plug and Play Devices

For printers, modems, scanners, cameras, and game controllers, the Control Panel has specific icons for installing them. Double-click the icon, then follow the instructions.

 

Switching users has some drawbacks. If the new user shuts down the computer after they're through, you will lose any work you haven't saved. For this reason, it is a good idea to save any work before you log off.

Additionally, leaving multiple user sessions open consumes memory and processing power, which will slow down the computer.

... to Go Back, Forward, and Home

The Go To submenu of the View menu also allows you to go back, forward, and home. In the Go To submenu, click Back to go back, Forward to go forward, or Home Page to go to your home page. Below these options is a list of previous pages you can also navigate to.

 

One of the major advantages of the NTFS file system that is designed for Windows XP is that, unlike the older FAT file system, you can set permissions at the file level in addition to the folder level. This means, for instance, that you can choose to make a shared folder accessible to everyone with read and change permission, expert one file in the shared folder that is read only. File level permissions can be accessed in the Security tab of the shared file's Properties dialog box. Be careful, however: file level permissions can complicate things considerably. If possible, use the folder level permissions instead.

... to Type an Address

If you don't have the Address bar displayed, then in the File menu, click Open. A dialog box displays in which you can type the address. Click OK to close the dialog box and open the page.

 

You can have as many Command Prompt windows as you like, but you should know that doing so may slow down your system speed.

... to Stop and Refresh a Page

The View menu also includes Stop and Refresh options to stop loading a page and to reload the current page.

 

You must be logged on as a Computer Administrator to create and delete user accounts.

... to Add a Favorite

You can also add a page from the History tool to Favorites. Right-click a page in History, then in the context menu click Add to Favorites.
