Changing your password
  • Press and hold the Ctrl and Alt keys as you press the Delete key

  • Click Change Password

  • Type your old password and your new password

  • Click OK, then OK again

Adding a new user
  • Navigate to the Control Panel and double-click User Accounts

  • Click the Create a new account link

  • Type a name for the new user and click Next

  • Choose an account type for the new user, then click Create Account

  • Click Change an Account, click the new user you just created, then click Create Password

  • Type a password twice, then click Create Password

Switching from the current user to another

  • Click Start, then Log Off

  • Click Switch User

  • Select the user name form the Welcome screen

Adding new groups

  • Navigate to the Computer Management window (Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management)

  • Click the plus sign next to Local Groups and Users, then right-click Groups

  • Click New Group... from the context menu

  • Type a Group name and description, then click Add

  • Click the users to add, then click the Add button. Click OK when done

  • Click the Create button, then click Close

Deleting a user or group
  • Navigate to the Computer Management window (Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management)

  • Click the plus sign next to Local Groups and Users, then click Groups

  • Right-click the group you want to delete

  • Click Delete from the context menu

Changing permissions for a shared folder
  • Click to select the folder you wish to change permission for; then click File, then Sharing and Security...

  • Click the Permissions button

  • Click one of the listings under Group or user names to view their permissions and click in a check box to change the permission type to allow or deny

  • To add a user or group, click the Add button

  • Click the name of the user or group you want to allow access to, then click Add

  • Click OK

Enabling the Internet Connection Firewall
  • Click Start, Connect To, Show All Connections

  • Right-click the icon for your Internet connection and click Properties

  • In the Advanced tab, click the check box in the ICF area

  • Click OK
