Creating a folders
  • In the File menu, click New, or right-click the window, then click New in the context menu

  • In the New submenu, click Folder

  • Type the name of the new folder, then press Enter

Renaming a file or folder
  • Right-click the file or folder

  • In the context menu, click Rename. The Rename option is also in the File menu

  • Type the new name in the object label

  • Press Enter

Selecting files and folders to move or copy

  • To select a range of objects, click the first object, then press the Shift key as you click the last object

  • To select individual objects, click the first object, then hold down the Ctrl key as you click each additional object

  • To select all of the objects in a folder, click the Edit menu, then click Select All

Copying and moving objects by dragging

  • Select the objects to move or copy

  • Drag the objects until they are in the new location. Hold down the Alt key to make sure the files are copied, or the Shift key to make sure the files are moved

  • Release the mouse button to copy or move the files to the new location

Copying and pasting objects

  • Select the object to copy

  • In the Edit menu, click Copy

  • Open the location where you want to copy the objects

  • In the Edit menu, click Paste

Cutting and pasting objects

  • Select the objects you want to move

  • In the Edit menu, click Cut

  • Open the location where you want to move the objects

  • In the Edit menu, click Paste

Deleting files and folders
  • Select the objects to delete

  • In the File menu, click Delete

Retrieving deleted objects from the Recycle Bin
  • Double-click the Recycle Bin

  • Drag the object from the Recycle Bin to the Desktop or a folder on your computer
